At Pa'l Corazón, the rice and beans don't share the plate with your enchiladas. They come on the side in a small heart-shaped dish. The enchiladas divorciadas are topped with crumbled queso fresco and cream instead of a layer of melted cheese, because, as owner Hugo Leonardo told the Park Record, "That's how we do it in Guerrero."
The restaurant opened in early September at 30 N. Main St. in Kamas. Its timing works out well for Tuhaye. After Friday, October 23, the Talisker Club's dinner reservation on Park City's Main Street goes away for about six weeks. During that stretch, the most interesting new table within easy reach of the community is on Kamas's Main Street instead, and it serves later into the evening than the diners down the block.
Courchevel's Last Fall Dinner Is Friday
Talisker's own Instagram post, featured on the club homepage, says Friday, October 23, is the final evening of fall service at Courchevel Bistro before "a brief seasonal pause." The bistro page lists its hours as closed October 26 through December 5.
That's nearly six weeks without one of the club's best-known kitchens. Courchevel, led by executive chef Clement Gelas, has received a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence every year from 2020 through 2025. When a restaurant like that goes dark from late October into the first week of December, the question of where to go for a weeknight dinner out has a different answer for a while. For Tuhaye, Kamas is the obvious place to look.
If you're reading this on Thursday, October 22, there's still one more evening of service at Courchevel. It's tomorrow night.
A Family Kitchen With Ten Tables
Pa'l Corazón is the second business for Hugo Leonardo. He came to the United States from Mexico in 2001 as a teenager and worked his way through Park City kitchens. Four years ago he opened Leonardo's, a market and taquería that serves Park City's Hispanic community with specialized goods. Leonardo's is at 6300 N. Sagewood Drive, Suites D&E, in Park City. He told the Park Record the new restaurant is "totally different" from the market, and he called it a dream he and his wife had talked about for two years.
The family spent four months renovating the building and turned the dining room into a themed space with Mexican decorations, food and music. It's small, with 10 tables inside. The Park Record reported that Leonardo expected his customers to be mostly landscapers and construction crews on lunch break. Instead, the restaurant has become a gathering place for workers and families alike, and those 10 tables are often full. His wife and daughters work there too.
Most of the menu comes from family recipes, and some dishes draw on Leonardo's upbringing in Guerrero, a coastal state in southern Mexico. The seafood dishes are modeled on Acapulco favorites. A first visit could start with:
- Enchiladas divorciadas: two salsas on one plate, finished with crumbled queso fresco and cream. Enchiladas verdes or divorciadas are $18.90 on the restaurant's online ordering menu.
- Quesabirrias: $16.80 on the same menu.
- Acapulco-style seafood: the dishes that most clearly show where the kitchen comes from.
- Chocolate tres leches: one of the desserts on a full dessert menu.
The kitchen is still trying new things. Leonardo told the Park Record he develops new dishes with his staff and recently worked with a Colombian chef to add plates from other countries. He also explained his approach in terms of the customer's money:
"I take care with my food because I respect money, and people work hard to make money."
That's the line he gave the Park Record, and he went on to talk about respecting the $20 someone spends after a long day.
The Hours That Matter After the Bistro Closes
A lot of what's near Tuhaye runs on early hours, and that's easy to forget until you're looking for dinner at 8 p.m. on a Tuesday in November. Pa'l Corazón is open every day, until 10 p.m. on Sunday and Monday and until 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Here are the posted hours for Pa'l Corazón and two nearby diners:
| Spot | Address | Posted hours | Latest dinner window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pa'l Corazón | 30 N. Main St., Kamas | Sun–Mon 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; Tue–Sat 11 a.m.–11 p.m. | Until 11 p.m., five nights a week |
| Mirror Lake Diner | 35 S. Main St., Kamas | Sun–Wed 7 a.m.–4 p.m.; Thu–Sat 7 a.m.–9 p.m. | Until 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday only |
| Oakley Diner | Oakley | Daily 8 a.m.–8 p.m. | Until 8 p.m. |
On a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening, Mirror Lake Diner has closed by 4 p.m. and Oakley Diner closes at 8. Pa'l Corazón is still serving. Each of the three places has its own role. Mirror Lake Diner covers breakfast from 7 a.m., and Oakley Diner says on its website that it has reopened after months of being closed. Of the three, though, only Pa'l Corazón serves a late dinner on weeknights.
Mirror Lake Diner is also expanding next door. KPCW reported in May that the Kamas Planning Commission approved a mini-golf course and parking on the adjacent parcel at 55 South Main on May 5. The owner was aiming to open by Labor Day, but the driveway entrance permit was still pending when the story ran. It's worth a look the next time you stop in for breakfast.
What Fills the Rest of the Pause
The six weeks between Courchevel's last service and its December reopening include a few dates beyond Kamas Main Street. These pair well with an early dinner out or fill a quiet evening:
- October 28, 6 p.m.: The Utah Avalanche Center's Powder Buoy Party at Park City Brewing, with live music, tacos, beer and a silent auction, according to the Park Record community calendar.
- November 1, 1 to 3 p.m.: CREATE PC's Día de los Muertos celebration, with an ofrenda, live performances and cultural activities. An afternoon there and an early dinner of family recipes in Kamas make a good Sunday.
- November 19, 6 p.m.: A chef-led "Preserves & Fermentation" dinner at Gracie's Farm at Blue Sky.
- November 20: Park City Mountain's 2026/27 opening day, as currently scheduled according to Visit Park City. Opening dates depend on snow, so check before you plan around it.
Two weeks after that, Courchevel's posted closure ends on December 5. Until then, Pa'l Corazón at 30 N. Main St. in Kamas serves dinner every night, until 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
